FAQs

What are the different Cambridge English exams, and which one is right for me?

So Cambridge English offer exams for beginners, intermediate, and advanced level students. If you aren’t sure on your exact level, I can offer a free 15 minute video call to assess which would be the best exam for you. For more information about their specific exams, click here.

How long do you recommend I study for before booking the exam?

I personally recommend a minimum of three months in order to properly prepare for a Cambridge English exam. Of course, some of my students study in less time and manage to get their desired score first time round. However, this cannot be guaranteed! Being able to commit to a longer preparation course is not only more stress-free but increases your chance of passing first time.

What’s the best way of preparing for the exam?

That depends on you, how much time you want to spend and how you like to learn! The strongest advantage in taking an online preparation course is that I’ll be able to give you specific feedback in each area. Not only that, but you will do speaking tests in class, learn key strategies for each part and have lots of error corrections.

Are there sample questions available for practice?

As well as access to official Cambridge English exam materials, including sample questions, practice tests, and preparation resources, I email weekly tests to my students for further practice between classes.

Do I have to pass each paper in order to pass the whole exam?

No. Your overall performance is calculated by averaging the scores you get in Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English. The weight of each of the four skills and Use of English is equal.

How long is my Cambridge English exam certificate valid?

Clarification on the validity period of Cambridge English exam certificates is typically two years from the test date.

Can I retake a Cambridge English exam if I don't pass?

Yes, you can retake a Cambridge English exam if you don't pass. Cambridge English exams allow candidates to retake the test to improve their scores or achieve a passing grade.
