FAQs

Do I need to order a book before starting my course?

No! I have a wide range of downloaded coursebooks and tend to flick between them during your course. I also email all PDFs and online materials to you after each session so you’ll always have a digital copy anyway! If you prefer to buy a coursebook for self-studying, I can always recommend the best ones.

How long is each lesson? Which platform do you use?

Each session is an hour. I generally use Microsoft Teams but in case we encounter any technical issues, there’s always Zoom, Facebook or Whatsapp video call!

Do I have to stick to the same lesson times each week?

Generally I prefer my students to try and keep the same lesson times as consistency is key. However, I’m flexible! Providing that you give me as much notice as possible (with a minimum of 24 hours), I can offer you different times each week. In order to avoid disappointment, I recommend letting me know as soon as possible.

How long should I study for?

I believe the longer you study, the better. Most students can expect to develop moderate fluency in 3-6 months depending on many factors (personal dedication, contribution and amount of lessons). If you need to learn English in a very short time, I recommend starting an intensive course.

How can I improve my speaking skills?

The majority of my students start their course feeling unconfident and nervous to speak English. My best advice for you is practice, practice, practice. Improving your speaking skills takes time so be consistent, prepare to work hard (this involves self-studying too!) and don’t be shy to make mistakes. It’s all part of the learning curve!

How will the language be taught?

I really think that teaching a language isn’t successful solely by routine and repetition but should be creative, communicative and fun! The online classroom will be an environment where you feel comfortable to contribute your own thoughts and ideas. The mix of activities will include discussions, quizzes, worksheets, videos, interactive and internet resources.
